Flavius Josephus

A Jewish historian born in Jerusalem in A.D. 37, Flavius Josephus served as commander of Jewish forces in Galilee prior to being captured by the Romans. His writing, perhaps the most important literary source material of that time, further supports the existence of Jesus.

Admittedly, some historians dispute the first passage below.They agree that much of the passage is authentic but believe it was “embellished” by a later Christian editor. I have placed the disputed portions of this passage in brackets. Remember that we are not looking for literary support of Yeshua’s resurrection or His claims to be the Messiah, but rather for historical evidence that acknowledges His existence:
